“I don’t do fine art, I do fun art, and mostly fin art.”

-John Morehead

So, you were surfing the net and somehow landed here?

It’s okay, it happens to everyone! But don’t worry, you’ll have reel fin… fun while you’re here! Welcome to J. Morehead The Fish Factory, where everything has a purpose… Or is eventually repurposed on purpose or into a porpoise, you’ll get it as you go and that’s what we like to do here, go with the flow! At J. Morehead The Fish Factory, you’ll find original pieces handcrafted from repurposed objects into fin-tastic art mostly resembling fish. We do not create commissioned art as each piece comes together with a little help from the artist, John Morehead, in its own way. We like to think any fin is possible if you believe it!

About the Artist

John Morehead is a self taught artist whose passion is creating whimsical fish sculptures from found objects. It is the repurposing of discarded everyday items combined with scraps of wood and various metals of different shapes, textures, and color, that give each piece its own personality. John lives in Norwood, NC on Lake Tillery… where the Fish Factory is right at home.

How It All Comes To Life

There’s no set method to the madness at the Fish Factory.
John finds unique, often discarded items from antique shops, dumpster diving, etc.
He brings them to The Fish Factory and everything comes to life in a bit of harmony that yields the finished piece, a scaled creature of some sort, not to scale!
